Fire extinguishers must be placed where they’re needed most — and where workers can find them fast.
Why It Matters: If a fire extinguisher is buried, blocked, or too far away, it’s no help in an emergency.
Key Points:
- Must be within 75 feet of work areas for Class A hazards.
- Must be within 50 feet of flammable liquid storage or use (Class B).
- Must be mounted at eye level or clearly marked with signage.
- Never store materials in front of or block extinguisher cabinets.
✅ Clear sightlines and fast access can prevent disaster.
Ask the Crew:
- Can you locate the nearest fire extinguisher right now?
- Is it blocked or easy to grab in a hurry?
