Stacking and Storage Safety

Toolbox Talk:

Stack It Right or Stack It Twice

June 22, 2025

Poorly stacked materials fall — sometimes on people. Stacking materials the right way means fewer re-dos, fewer injuries, and a safer work zone.

Why It Matters:
Stacking too high, too loose, or too close to pathways creates major hazards. Unstable stacks fall fast, especially when bumped by equipment or shaken by vibration.

Key Points:

  • Keep stacks neat, stable, and within height limits.
  • Heavier items always go on the bottom — lightest on top.
  • Avoid leaning materials against walls or equipment.
  • Band, strap, or block stacks to prevent collapse.
✅ A stable stack is a safe stack.

Ask the Crew:

  • Are any of our material stacks leaning or loose?
  • Are we stacking for safety or just convenience?
