Rigging Hardware Inspection

Toolbox Talk:

Inspect Rigging Gear Before Every Lift

June 22, 2025

Rigging hardware must be checked before each use — no exceptions.

Why It Matters: A single damaged shackle, hook, or sling can fail under load, risking lives and damaging equipment.

Key Points:

  • Look for cracks, bends, excessive wear, or corrosion.
  • Check pins, bolts, and latch mechanisms for secure fit and function.
  • Remove any hardware that’s damaged or questionable — tag it “Do Not Use.”

✅ Bad gear has no business in the air.

Ask the Crew:

  • Did we inspect all hardware today?
  • Are we tagging damaged gear out of service?
