Work boots take a beating — but that doesn’t mean they should be worn until they fall apart.
Why It Matters:
Damaged or worn-out boots stop protecting you. A steel toe that’s dented, a sole that’s peeling, or laces that won’t hold can all lead to injury or fatigue.
Key Points:
- Check for cracked leather, worn tread, or holes that let water or chemicals in.
- Ensure soles are securely attached — loose soles are a trip hazard.
- Damaged toe caps (crushed or exposed steel) no longer provide protection.
- Laces should be strong and allow boots to stay snug and supportive.
- Wet or soaked boots increase the chance of foot fungus or infection — dry them thoroughly before reuse.
✅ Your boots are PPE — treat them like any other piece of safety gear.
Ask the Crew:
- When’s the last time you really checked your boots?
- Do we need to replace or repair any footwear before starting the day?
