Staying warm starts with what you wear — and how you wear it.
Why It Matters:
Proper clothing helps your body retain heat and stay dry. Inadequate or improper gear increases your risk of hypothermia, frostbite, and reduced job performance.
Key Points:
- Wear layers: Base layer to wick moisture, middle layer to insulate, and outer layer to block wind/water.
- Avoid cotton — it holds moisture and chills the body.
- Cover extremities: Use insulated gloves, thermal socks, and a hat or helmet liner.
- Use waterproof boots with good traction to reduce slips on ice or snow.
- Change out of wet clothes immediately and keep spare gear onsite if possible.
✅ Dressing right is your first defense against the cold.
Ask the Crew:
- Are we wearing proper layers for today’s conditions?
- Do we have dry backup clothing if needed?
