Electrical Cord and Equipment Inspections

Damaged cords and faulty tools are shock hazards waiting to happen — inspect them before you plug in.

Frayed wires, exposed conductors, and missing ground pins are all too common on construction sites. These toolbox talks cover OSHA inspection requirements for extension cords, power tools, and temporary electrical systems; how to identify common defects; color-coding/tagging systems; and proper removal from service. Use them to train workers on spotting electrical hazards before they become serious incidents.

Lead safety meetings with toolbox talks focused on electrical cord inspections, tool maintenance, and OSHA 1926 Subpart K compliance for portable jobsite equipment.
